The Homestead Soup Kitchen is in dire need of funding for supplies and upgrades. We were pleased to make a small donation and encourage you to support them, even if you just drop off some canned food items (which you can always bring to us and we'll deliver them).

The Homestead Soup Kitchen is located at 105 S.W. 3rd Avenue and is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12 noon to 1:30pm. To make a donation, volunteer to serve meals, or for more information call (305) 245-7448.

    Backpack Donation

CBF has once again partnered with Miami Dade County’s Juvenile Services Division to provide book bags for local families in need. This year, we were able to supply backpacks for 30 children in the program.

The Juvenile Services Division provides victim offender mediation, restitution, community work services, educational and vocational intervention. They act as a vital safety net to catch troubled youth before they fall further into lifestyles of crime and deviance. Many of the children served are from underprivileged families who are not financially able to purchase school supplies.

    Local star athletes

CBF is happy to support the Florida City Razorbacks, a local peewee football team. The team has 25 players, ages 8 through 10. They have been practicing diligently the last few weeks, getting ready for their first Jamboree on August 24th at Palmetto Park. Although the teams has been able to fundraise for uniforms and shoes, they are still in need of equipment bags. If you'd like to help these athletic young men, contact Coach Joel Sacerio at

Accepting the check with Coach Sacerio are Joel Sacerio, Jr; Jamar Mackey; Michael Andrews; and Amen Mackey

CBF was proud to support the City of Homestead's "Sizzling Summer Challenge" to promote summer reading.  Students were given a novel to read with an assignment that will be graded by the Mayor's Youth Council. Winning students will receive a week's worth of free uniforms and school supplies. Accepting the check are MYC Members (left to right): Samara Taylor, Rebekah Valle, Erika Smith and Julissa Maldonado.

The Mayor's Youth Council is fundraising to take an educational trip to Washington, DC and is in need of contributions. If you'd like to support these aspiring young leaders, contact Councilwoman Patricia Fairclough, the MYC liaison at
