    A quarter century of smiles!

CBF is excited to share that Lydia Rosado is having her 25th anniversary with the bank. Lydia is a customer service rep at the Princeton Office and says her favorite part of the job is “Making the customers happy!” Her customers must agree, because she is often pleasantly surprised to receive letters of thanks, which are shared at monthly staff meetings.

Lydia is a dedicated member of her church and likes to volunteer by tutoring children and visiting local hospitals. She has six grandchildren and attributes her job at the bank as the support she needed to put them all through college. She feels her customers and coworkers are just an extended part of her family and looks forward to many more years working here.

CBF was proud to receive the 2014 “Outstanding Community Involvement and Corporate Citizenship Award” from the WeCare of South Dade Organization. The award is based on supporting community based organizations in the Homestead/Florida City area, as well as using resources and influence in service of broader philanthropic aims.

CBF congratulates fellow award winners: Ruth Campbell, “Lifetime of Service Award”; Cip Garza, “Educational Impact Award”; Carlos Salgado & Rocio Tafur Salgado, co-directors of enFAMiLia, “Larry Ligammare Making a Difference Award”; and Homestead Hospital, who received the “Outstanding South Dade Supporter Award.” The people in these organizations make our community a better place and we are honored to be selected among them!

WeCare of South Dade, Inc. was designed to bring together local social service agencies in an effort to network and share information. It has more than 100 members representing every aspect of human service – health, education, emergency shelter and assistance, child development, entrepreneur training, domestic violence, farmworker aid and assistance, elder care, and more.  Visit www.wecareofsouthdade.gov for more information.

There are 75 participants signed up already, but it's not too late to join in. Do something for yourself and for your health -visit miamifca.org to sign up today.

Homestead resident and former South Dade High school football star Noah Wilbanks believed so strongly in the FCA’s core values that he quit his job as a high school teacher and coach and became a full time staff member at the FCA. For the last ten years, he has served as the local Area Representative, running football camps, working with the Coaches Ministry and helping schools form student led, student initiated huddles. He is excited to be planning this fundraiser and hopes it becomes an annual event that brings visibility to the organization and encourages community support for local school programs. "Our goal is to meet people where they are at, to serve and help them grow their faith," states Wilbanks.

The FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America and has served communities since 1954 by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference. The FCA supports male and female student athletes of all sports, as well as their coaches. The local FCA chapter extends from Florida City to Bird Road and includes South Dade Senior, Southridge Senior, Palmetto and Killian High Schools.

CBF is proud to celebrate Maggie Herrera’s 5th anniversary with the bank. Maggie is part of the Deposit Operations Department, a behind the scenes customer service area. In addition to helping customers over the phone, Maggie is also our go-to person for business customers that deposit checks online with our EZ Deposit machines. Maggie earned an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Miami Dade College and believes in continuing her education, so she takes advantage of courses offered within the bank and is currently working towards her Bachelor’s Degree in Supervision and Management.

Maggie is well known for her volunteerism here at the bank and out in the community. She's always first to sign up to hostess or bartend at bank functions and has also donated her time at the local homeless shelter and fundraised for back to school items for migrant students. Reflecting on her past few years, Maggie says, "I always had aspirations of being a banker when I grew up. I enjoy coming in to work every day and am glad I have the opportunity to continue developing my skills."

CBF is proud to celebrate Nubia Lara’s 5th anniversary with our financial family. Nubia is a personal banker at the Florida City Office. She focuses on making sure interactions with her customers are pleasant and feels rewarded every day because she "works hand in hand with a productive and pleasant team." In addition to opening accounts and handling customer transactions, she assists in keeping the office organized by updating records, maintaining the ATM and completing reports in a timely manner. Her friendly disposition and professional demeanor make it tempting to rename her position as personable banker!

Nubia is a graduate of Miami Dade College and in her free time, she enjoys volunteering at Keys Gate Charter School. She is a fan of Dr. Seuss, quoting him, “It’s not about what it is; it’s about what it can become.”
