Support our troops and have fun with the whole family at the 6th annual Thinking of You Services Picnic. The event is this Saturday, May 18th at Palmetto Bay Village Center from noon to 6pm. There will be entertainment, super heroes, fun for the kids and a watermelon eating contest! The first 100 guests will receive a free T-shirt. The event is free, but please bring a care package item so that Thinking of You Services can continue to send packages to soldiers. If you know someone in the military, provide the soldier's name and address and they will send a package.
Thinking of You Services is a not for profit 501© 3 organization started in 2004 by Freddie and Sonia Ambrose. The idea started when they decided to send a get well card to a sick friend from church. They expanded their outreach to include birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy, weddings, and just to keep in touch. When asked if there was a name for the program “Thinking of You Services” was born. After watching a Gulf War documentary, Freddie, a Vietnam Combat Veteran, was inspired to further extend their outreach to care packages for soldiers. He remembered the anguish felt by soldiers at mail call when they did not receive anything and felt Thinking of You Services could help fill that void.
