Community Bank of Florida is extremely proud to announce Dr. James “Doc” Boilini has been elected to serve as board president of the Florida Keys Electric Coop. Dr. Boilini also serves as the bank’s chairman of the Keys Region Board of Directors.
Dr. Boilini is a Credentialed Cooperative Director, and was originally appointed to the board in 2004 to complete the remainder of an unexpired term for District 1, Key Largo. He was then elected in 2005, and has been re-elected in three-year intervals.
Doc is well known in the Upper Keys, as the owner of Doc’s Diner and Boilini Vision Care. He is also known for his extensive community involvement, serving as the president and founding board member of Jacobs Aquatic Center and as a board member for Mariners Hospital. In addition, he is involved in numerous other community organizations including the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce and Take Stock in Children.
Elected by Co-op members, FKEC's Board of Directors represents power consumers in four voting districts from Key Largo to Marathon. The board has the authority to establish policies and review operational procedures to promote a progressive, financially-sound utility. Only FKEC directors participate in the election of board officers. Following a nomination process, new officers are elected by individual secret ballot at the company’s annual organizational meeting. New officers are up for re-election annually, and there is no limit to the number of years one can serve in a particular office.
