Community Bank of Florida was pleased to support the Mexican American Council’s upcoming Migrant Student Scholarship Golf Tournament. The event will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Keys Gate Golf & Country Club. There’s still time to sign up for the tournament, and in addition to helping give scholarships to local farm worker students, your fee includes golfing, a cart, range balls, a commemorative shirt, a goodie bag, plus lunch and entertainment. Registration kicks off at 8am, followed by a Mariachi and Champagne Celebration. There will be several prizes and a special new highlight, the “Living Hero” Scholarship Award, which will be given to an exceptional migrant student who has served our nation in armed combat.
Maria Garza, President of the Mexican American Council, explained that the purpose of the Mexican American Council is to “support high achieving, but financially needy farm worker students. This year, over 200 students from farm worker families will graduate from Miami Dade County Schools and donations like the one made by Community Bank of Florida allows us to give them an opportunity to attend college.”
