SPOTLIGHT ON: Swankridge

Last updated 1 year ago

If you've ever met the Swanks you know they are very interesting. They love animals, feeding people and supporting the community. One day we asked Sallyann to tell us how she became a business woman. Her family story is worth the read:

“In 1979, as a nurse and single parent with two small children, I dreamed of opening my first business. I didn’t have any family in the area, and when I went to Community Bank they backed me financially as well as emotionally. With their help I opened Swankridge, a place I could provide quality care for the elderly. In 1984, my love for antiques turned into my second business. Eventually the finger food and tea I served to customers turned my antique store into a tea room. My sister Katie’s restaurant experience came in handy and the tea room became White Lion Café. As my children got older, it became a family business. My daughter Lory went to art school and is now our best chef. My son Shannon got his contractor’s license and now does all the work on our facilities. Even my grandkids, with their college funds, are part of the financial family. Community Bank is the BLOOD that flows through our veins. I don't think the average person understands how important a real hometown bank supports them, from a simple paycheck to keeping our small businesses in the mainstream of commerce.”
