Joshua Zajack, a 22 year old education student from Key Largo, was the winner of the "People's Choice Cockail Competition" at the Key Largo Chamber's Cook Off. The cocktail contest was in honor of the 100th anniversary of the completion of Henry Flagler's Florida Keys Over-Sea Railroad.
Joshua grew up in New Jersey, and remembers drinking warm apple cider on cold days. This inspired him to create "Flagler's Rusty Spike." The adult beverage is made of equal parts apple cider, Goldschlager cinnamon shnapps and Laird's Applejack brandy. He garnished it with brown sugar to symbolize rust and a cinnamon stick as a railroad spike. Joshua received bragging rights as well as $100 cash. Congratulations Joshua!
