KIDS AND THE POWER OF WORK (KAPOW) partners business and community volunteers with elementary schools throughout South Florida. KAPOW exposes students to career opportunities and helps them connect what they are learning to their futures in the workplace.
Volunteers go through a one-time training and are assigned to a class at a local elementary school. Community Bank of Florida’s Campbell Square Financial Manager, Romey Samtani, was excited to be partnered up with second grade students at Redondo Elementary. Romey taught 8 lessons to his class, talking to them about teamwork, stereotyping, workplace skills, the value of studying hard, going to college, and careers that can be held within a bank.
After all their discussions, the students had a work-site visit to Community Bank, where they spent the day touring the different departments, talking to employees about their day to day job duties and what skills they needed to have to get there. The field trip ended with a pizza luncheon and book bags full of goodies for all the students.
