Another season, another banner hanging in support of the Broncos. Homestead Senior High School is considered a small school in Miami Dade County and receives limited support due to their size. They rely on donations to help them play and CBF was pleased to once again assist their Broncos Baseball Booster Club with fundraising to purchase uniforms, hats, shoes and equipment. For just $300, your banner can also hang on their home field throughout the season. Any amount of support would be appreciated, contact Coach Bruce Berman at (305) 298-2272.

In December, Santa visited our office on behalf of the Kiwanis Club to fundraise for the ELIMINATE Project. Everyone who took a snapshot with Santa provided a small donation, which the bank matched. In total, we raised over $250 to help Kiwanis ELIMINATE Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus in 40 countries around the world. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to see Santa!

CBF is proud to celebrate Patty Medeiros’ 20th anniversary with our financial family. Patty is our Director of Credit Risk, where she makes sure we comply with consumer loan regulations and encourages activities that reinvest in our communities. She also oversees the credit department, where they crunch loan figures and complete tasks after loans are closed. Over the years at the bank, Patty has been recognized numerous times, including as Employee of the Year and she received our Captain Community Award. She reflects on her tenure here and says, “The bank is a wonderful place to work; not only have I been able to grow in my professional life, but in my personal life as well.”
When away from work, Patty spends as much time as possible with her family. Her three sons have blessed her with three grandchildren. She loves to teach them old fashioned games, put together jig-saw puzzles and watch movies. In addition, she is also ‘mom’ to a rescue dog named Max.

CBF is happy to partner with the Kiwanis Club of South Dade in the “Just 1 Book” book drive. “Just 1 Book” was started in 2010 by a girl name Sarah from Central Florida who came up with an idea to help childhood literacy by recycling new or gently used children’s books. Today, “Just 1 Book” has donated thousands of books to needy areas and programs. They will continue to collect and distribute books to children in need, as long as there are kids who want to read. Sarah’s ultimate goal is to have “Just 1 Book” Book Mobiles that will bring books to needy kids in their own neighborhoods
All of Community Bank’s South Dade locations have collection boxes for books targeted to children ages 0-21. Collection efforts will continue until April 1, 2014 so please drop off as many new or gently used books as possible to support the cause! For further information about “Just 1 Book,” visit their website: www.just1book.net
